Do you want to restore your youthful face? Get Botox® injections. They’re effective at fighting the common signs of aging and reducing the visibility of wrinkles, fine lines, and deep creases.

Hundreds of thousands of men and women use Botox® as an anti-aging treatment, making it one of the most popularly requested cosmetic procedures to date. With such a significant number of people, it’s not a surprise to hear someone, somewhere, in the country who has had a Botox treatment gone awry.

Botox® injections are generally safe. Despite their effectiveness, there are myths surrounding them that make some people hesitant to try them. At Reveal Beauty, we feel that it’s time to debunk these myths. Here are the top five common myths that we feel it’s time to put to rest.

Myth 1: Botox® makes your face feel frozen.

The loss of facial expressions is one of the biggest reasons many people shun this treatment. As a result, they miss out on the benefits Botox® provides, such as reduced wrinkles and a rejuvenated face. At Reveal Beauty, we assess the area of concern before injecting Botox® to provide natural-looking results. We also use a minimum dose of Botox® injection to make sure that only the targeted area is affected, leaving the rest of your facial muscles untouched.

Myth 2: Wrinkles will worsen if you stop getting Botox®.

This fallacy has been circulating for quite some time. The truth is your wrinkles will not worsen if you stop getting the injections. Yes, the wrinkles will return once the Botox® wears off, which is typically within four to six months. However, wrinkles will not increase in number once you stop the treatment for good. Your face will just return to its previous state from before you had Botox® injections.

Myth 3: Getting Botox® treatments is addictive.

The main ingredient for Botox® is botulinum toxin A. It does not contain any addictive substances at all. In fact, many of our patients return to our practice to get new shots of Botox® treatments because they love the results they’re seeing, and not because they’re addicted to them.

Myth 4: Botox® is poisonous.

Botulinum toxin A is a neurotoxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. However, the substance used in the cosmetic industry is already in purified form and in low dose, so it’s safe to use. In fact, Botox® is FDA-approved for the use of improving wrinkles and fine lines in the face.

Myth 5: It’s painful.

Many of our patients describe the sting of injection as that of a mosquito bite. In most cases, we don’t use anesthetics. The pinching feeling also lasts for a few seconds only.
